Albertville has much to be proud of, to wit:

Albertville, Alabama – Nickel-Plated Fire Hydrant
Outside the Albertville Chamber of Commerce stands a salute to Albertville’s legacy as the “fire hydrant capital of the world,” a polished nickel hydrant was placed on a pedestal of marble there to celebrate the Mueller Co. producing its one-millionth hydrant. [from Roadside America]

The fact that any city should be declared “Fire Hydrant Capital of the World” makes It THE capital in the state of Kitsch.

This continues my fascination with Albertville that started with the shelves in the grocery store. https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2009/12/06/foodland-of-albertville-alabama/

I love that this chrome plated hydrant was the one millionth one produced. I only wish they were all still located in Albertville.

    More Albertville please!

I know, that’s such a great name, Family Dollar. And look at the way the roof slopes, not dedicated to sloping the way a real sloped roof would so much as the whole store looking like it’s tipping a little. From the angle of the photo it looks like the fire hydrant could be holding part of the roof up.
