Jesus Truck

I was in the kitschy desert town of Baker eating at the kitschy Mad Greek restaurant just up the street from the world’s largest (and kitschiest) thermometer when this big rig beauty thundered up and pulled into the parking lot. The driver was very pleased when I darted away from my gyro in order to take photos, as he said he had just finished washing the truck.

Later when I visited the “Ship With Sam” website at http://www.shipwithsam.com/index.html , however, I was somewhat disappointed that I didn’t get to see the “Hollywood” version of the truck, as pictured here on the site:

That Jesus sure gets around! Though I hate when business is mixed with religion, assuming some product is in the truck. Then again, maybe it’s a traveling revival show. Or maybe just a traveler with a message to get out. Whatever the case, he/she gets an A for effort and production value.

I love the Jesus truck disparaging Hollywood. I have a feeling many of those folks are the biggest TMZ/ Access Hollywood fans of all.

I’d kill to know what’s in the truck.

from the criteria on their website it seems they will ship anything non-devil-related, dry or refrigerated…

“ship with sam” also has a great fiery logo and a nifty “shop with sam” gift shop, feauring t-shirts and coffee mugs and whatnot:

you can also get a glimpse of their travel plaza on this “employment oppurtunities” page (one vacant post at the moment, evidently, is that of spell-checker):

and if you have the patience to let the slide show slowly play out on the following home page, you’ll see a number of different versions of the truck, as well as the travel plaza:

    I love it.

Now I can visualize an 18-wheeler that big with a sign on the side that says:

    “I AM THE LORD”

    with smaller font below saying

“I DARE YOU TO F**K WITH ME.”
