Allee Willis’ Kitsch O’ The Day – Powdered Bubblegum

Made in the 1970′s, Fleer Quicksand Bubblegum also came in Strawberry and Sour Apple. I never had the guts to pour this down my throat so not sure how it worked but the concept of powder turning into bubblegum is Kitsch enough for me. Yuck and fabulous in one fell gulp!

Hmmmm never tried this one! “Razzles” started out hard then presto! It turned into gum. Up there too with the “Goldrush” nuggets gum that came in it’s own wee sachel. From Fleer the same company that gave us your “Kitsch O’ The Day”..Allee..were baseball cards with the throwaway cardboard gum which took forever to melt in your mouth!

Kathy you should be in advertising :D

  • I can tell you from personal experience that this gum was excellent when fresh (though I don’t believe I ever tried the banana flavor). It’s probably less yummy now. In 1993, an experiment I conducted with a live test subject determined that a piece of then-30-year-old gum from a freshly-opened pack of Weird-Ohs cards was nonlethal, although the subject tried to argue after the fact that $1.00 was not a sufficient payment for his suffering. He reported that the gum was rock-hard and brittle at first, but then immediately dissolved into an unpleasant-tasting liquid. On the other hand, another customer of ours at that time would habitually eat the antique gum out of his DINOSAURS ATTACK! cards, and even claimed to enjoy it. However, said gum was only about ten years old at the time… and the fellow in question was not right in the head.
