Beads On Velvet Xmas Tree

This is the real deal, the genuine article. This lovely wall hanging is composed of beads, buttons, brooches, bits of colored broken glass and plastic. The frame measures 2′ x 3′ in size, and the tree has mini christmas lights at the tips of the tree and in various other spots in the mix. It is mounted on black velvet. It was made by my 85 year old friend, Phyllis McMeekan (my late girlfriend’s mother). Every year she hosts a little dinner for family and a couple of us who have birthdays in December. This year’s dinner was last night. Anyway, every year Phyllis elaborately decorates her house for the Season (the most beautiful tree and mantle that you ever saw), and also hangs up this classic. I had to get a shot of it for posterity, and I submit it here with great appreciation.

What Allee has to say about this:
I absolutely love these. I never appreciated them before I started loving Kitsch but once I did and pictured the artist raiding their jewelry and chotzke drawers and spending nights with glue covered hands I fell in love with them. This one is especially creative with the pearl necklace string lights and the bracelet base.
