Why did the chicken drive across the road?

I frequently pass this parked car on Saturday mornings when I hit the garage sales in Santa Monica and Venice and always regret I don’t have my camera with me. Today I came prepared. Don’t know the story behind this poultry vehicle but I bet it’s a real “chick magnet.”

    I know. There are a lot of cars, especially around LA, that are decorated stupendously and outrageously. And this is certainly not the first car to use the car itself as the body of the beast. But it’s completely spectacular that the body is a Caddy (unless my eyes are deceiving me) and that the color match is EXACT to the rest of the rooster.

    Beyond that, I’m blown away by the color scheme in the whole photo. The basic colors of yellow, red, white, green and gradations of black and nothing else in the frame that departs. So you have the extreme blast of yellow in both car and fowl, then the hit of red on the rooster carried out in the car insignia on the tail and tying into the line of red on the curb. The white is totally balanced out between the house on the left, the trim on the house on the right and the white stripe on the tires.

    I love the custom body job going on above the tires.

    If there’s ever any way of finding out what the driver of this vehicle does and what the rooster represents I would kill to know.

    As far as the “chick magnet” goes, this is the ultimate cock car.

    Thanks for the Classique d’ Camembert award! I wish I could take credit for the expert “art direction” you so carefully point out, but the truth is, I held my camera up and clicked. It was the universe itself that assembled the perfect elements so well.

    I hope to some day find out the story behind this car.

    And your closing line that echoed mine is so perfect I refuse to even try and top it.

      I thought about whether to put my last line in there but I thought if I didn’t someone else would so I just went for it.

      The universe often plays a part in perfect photos. The color scheme was the very first thing that hit me about it, even before the car itself. It was one of those photos that any time I looked anywhere I screamed louder and louder.

    This fantastic flivver was modified from an early to mid-70’s Oldsmobile “98,” which was the top of the line car for that GM line.

    It was built on the same platform as the Cadillac de Ville of it’s time, so you might be able to see the resemblance.

    I would want to get goggles for the rooster, and maybe something to clean the bugs out of his teeth occasionally!
