Ah, the mysterious moai of Easter Island. Iconic, yet such a shlep to see the real thing. Moai are often featured on tiki mugs, and as decorative statues at Tiki themed bars and restaurants. Occasionally, they find themselves in more modest locales, such as this fine fellow who solemnly greets all visitors to our home. Carved from a solid palm trunk, he stands about four feet tall, and weighs somewhere in the ballpark of 200 lbs.

What Allee has to say about this:
I have the exact guy sitting on my front lawn. But you have the real thing, heavier than a team of oxen, and I have a big fiberglass mold made by Oceanic Arts of Whittier California, THE Tiki headquarters of all Tiki headquarters where they did/do all the carvings for places like Disneyland, Trader Vics and other establishments that glorified Polynesian wonders.

Very impressive that you have the real thing. I have 31 palm trees in my yard (Do not be imagining an estate; it’s a tiny yard but I’m obsessed with palm trees.) I feel like taking a Sawzall out there right now and starting to carve.
