In 1988 I had a show at The Dorothy Goldeen Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" had just been a hit by Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield and the title begged for a matching motorized piece and party. The "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" Art Opening featured 21 new art pieces, sculptures and furniture as well as a gaggle of older pieces featured in the "What Have I Done To Deserve This Sale" room. There were also several special events, chief among them the 'What Have I Done To Deserve This Auctions' a "Famous Masters" auction and a thrift shop art auction, both of which guests bid for with the $500 of "What Have I Done To Deserve This" cash they received as they entered. The brilliant Del Rubio Triplets also debuted their version of "What Have I Done To Deserve This".

I never arrived at any of my art openings without my arm in a sling or a finger or two wrapped up. Racing too fast during prep always resulted in an unfortunate date with a hammer, drill or some other piece of equipment. In this case it was an Exacto knife and eight stitches.

Auctioning off Paula Picasso's "Girl With Blue Period". Looking back, this was the work that began the journey towards dicovering Bubbles the artist years later in 1999. After painting this in 1988, the image reappeared in the last official Allee painting before the "Smock It To Me (Art Can Taste Bad In Any Medium)" party hailed my swan song to my (Allee's not Bubbles') art career.

The cue card reads, "After they served as models for distorted portraits, Picasso tossed his women out like empty tubes of paint"
